What color shoes do you wear with navy blue pants?!?

I just got these awesome navy blue pants from new york and company and when I got them home none of my shoes looked right with them..eep! So now i’m just trying to figure out what kind of shoes to wear with them. black? brown? gray? white? gold? what? also note that I am talking about shoes here (pumps, boots, heels, flats) as I will be mostly wearing these to work so not flip-flops, sneakers, thonged sandals or like wacky shoes.

Black would work with most outfits and white might be a good choice for others.

I would think heels would look best but it depends on the overall look you are going for.
